TRACE ’95: back on the wire
TRACE ’95 is a fictional dial-up adventure inspired by the early internet. You can play as Kevin Mitnick, the Ghost, or Tsutomu Shimomura, the Hunter. One stays ahead of the trace. The other follows the signal.
The live demo has six locations, a casebook, a map, and a Paper Trail expansion. It is a single-player, 16-bit-style game, with invented scenes, dialogue, and puzzles.
A game, not a history lesson
The setting borrows the atmosphere of an earlier internet, but the story is fictional. The appeal is the mood: a room, a computer, a clue, and a reason to keep looking.
The project belongs here because it turns an old-computer atmosphere into something you can interact with. A clue has more weight when it lives in a room you have to explore. The interface is part of the story, not just a way to move between scenes.
The playable demo is linked above. A public source repository has not yet been linked for this game.
